Come On
was a band in the New Wave era of New York downtown
that time forgot, but you can remember if you pick
up these newly unearthed recordings. George Elliott
(who is redistributing the stuff) was a Klaus Nomi
collaborator, art-rocker and scenester originale,
and his band Come On made some funny, super-catchy
pop New Wave that was smart about stupid subject
matter (they are mad at Mickey Mouse for snubbing
them at Disneyland, and they pay tribute to Leave
It to Beaver, drugs, and immaturity). These
are previously unissued demos from 1977-79 and fans
of the New York scene of that era should really
check them out.

4 stars out of 5
Come On is a great band. Here they showcase
early efforts from 1977 & 1979. Their sound is
rocking with some sharp turns. Art rock, possibly.
Art rock and more! If you like early New York punk/new
wave you gotta run out and get your grubby little
mitts on a Come On album. They were one of the nationally
unsung heros left out for dry when Blondie,
The Talking Heads, Richard Hell and all the others
started getting press and record deals. Time to re-visit
history and spin the real McCoys of punk, so
to speak.

COME ON 2:
A collection of remastered demo tracks from this
late-70s NYC punk band. The music is somewhat minimalistic,
yet still has personality and lots of drive. It's
reminiscent of early Talking Heads and the art sound
coming out of NYC at that time.
